HOT BIKE JAPAN...

What I am about to write here may not be very pleasant to those who were really close to him. Because we weren't particularly close to him. However, I would like to tell everyone that Japan has lost some great journaliｓt as well. I would like to quietly write down here a small incident between us and him.

こういうことは、本当に仲の良かった人達からしたら反吐の出るような行為であるし、Koh自身も大変嫌うので、書こうか、書くまいか、何日も悩みましたが、ここに静かに書き留めたいと思います。





That was back in 2016. Koh won the freestyle at the AMD World Championship in Germany. Until then, Koh had consciously avoided participating in custom bike shows in Japan, but after this event Koh decided to participate in Yokohama. However, Koh at that time was younger than he is now, and he was much more nervous and edgy than he did not participate and entrusted the RUMBLE RACER, to take, who had been Koh's right-hand man Yuuki for many years. When Yuuki arrived at the venue and took the RUMBLE RACER out of the van, a man came running up to Yuuki. He said. Did you make this?! Yuuki replied, no way. Then he laughed and said yes. After that, he immediately came to Suicide Customs for an interview.

あれは遡ること2016年。KohはドイツのAMDワールドチャンピオンシップのフリースタイルで優勝しました。それまで日本のカスタムショウに参加することから意識的に遠ざかっていましたが、このことをきっかけに以前からずっと応援してくれていたムーンのM氏へのお礼と感謝の気持ちを込めて横浜に参加することにしました。けれど、その頃のKohは今よりも若く、今よりもずっと神経質で尖っていたのでKoh自身は参加せず、長年Kohのライトハンドメンである伊達君にRUMBLE RACERを託しました。会場に到着してバンからRUMBLE RACERを下ろすと、一人の男性が駆け寄ってきました。そして、「ねえ！これ、君が作ったの！？」 とものすごくビックリした顔で聞かれたそうです。「いえ、違います」 と伊達君が答えると、「だよね～」 と言われた、と伊達君が笑って話してくれました。その後、その人はすぐにスーサイドまで取材に来てくれて、そこで初めてKohは沢山のことを質問されて、丁寧に答えました。


Koh joked that even though this bike won the world championship, it didn't win in Yokohama. Then, with a carefree expression on his fase, he laughed and said, "That's true. If something like this won, everyone would be pissed!!" When I heard his words, I felt that he was a very trustworthy journalist. I didn't sense industry politics or social factors from him.

「これ世界で優勝したのに横浜では優勝できなかったんですよ」 とKohが冗談のつもりで話したら、飄々とした顔で、「そりゃそーでしょ、こんなんが横浜で優勝したら皆んながしらけちゃうじゃん！」 と笑っていました。私は、あーこの人は色眼鏡無しでKohのつくるもの、つくりだしたいもの、そしてKohという人を面白がってくれるジャーナリストなんだ、と嬉しかった。それはとても有り難かったし、口先だけではない真の平等を感じました。私はこの日のことがずっと忘れられない。






After the interview, we saw an article about the HOT BIKE that was released and we were very surprised. This is because our RUMBLE RACER was also featured on the top page. The bike that won in Yokohama was introduced on the next page.
This may just be a coincidence, but we also received a massage from he. In the 8 years since then, I have completed a SPEED STER & TRIBUTE HARMAN, but I was never able to get him to see it. That's very unfortunate and lonely. This is a small memory of Shin Ikeda and Koh, editor-in-chief of HOT BIKE JAPAN, who recently departed for heaven.

発売されたHOT BIKEの記事を見て私達は大変驚きました。RUMBLE RACERがトップページで紹介されていたからです。横浜で優勝したバイクは後のページでした。これはただの偶然なのかもしれないけれど、Kohは池田氏からのメッセージだと受け止めました。あれから8年の間にSPEED STERとTRIBUTE HARMANを完成させたけれど、2台ともアメリカに置いてあるので見てもらうことが叶わなかった。それがとても残念で、淋しいです。
