この写真、とっても素敵だけど、ちょっと笑える。すかしてるわけじゃなくて知らないうちに撮ってくれていたらしい。

Koh has been selected as the 2023 King of Sturgis. What happened to us was so big and the stage was so big that everything felt like a dream that night.

Kohが2023年のキング オブ スタージスに選ばれました。アメリカのスーパースターが毎年ライブを行なうバッファローチップのステージに呼ばれて、もう写真には写しきれないほどの大きな場所で、両サイドの巨大スクリーンにはスピードスターとトリビュートハーマンが映し出されて、それはもう、本当に夢の中にいるような出来事でした。



When Koh is name was announced, everyone celebrated with loud cheers, applause, finger whistles, and the sound of the exhaust. On the way up to the stage, the people around me and the staff asked me to shake my hand, and they winked at me while making fists. I asked Koh afterwards that it was a wonderful time.

Kohの名前が発表されると、大きな歓声と拍手と指笛とマフラーの爆音で会場の皆さんが祝福してくれました。ステージに上がる途中で、周りの人々やスタッフの皆さんが握手を求めてきてくれたり、グーとグーをカチンっと合わせながらウインクをしてくれたり、それはそれは素晴らしい時間だったよ、と後からKohに聞きました。




Koh has come this far with his own goals, but he never imagined that something this big would happen. I haven't researched it, so I don't know the truth, but maybe Koh was the first Asian to win the award.

自分なりの目標を持って、ここまで来ましたが、まさか、ここまで大きな出来事が起こるなんて想像もしていなかったから、本当に驚きましたし、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになり、目が回って気分が悪くなりました（笑）　いつもKohのカスタムバイクのシートを担当してくれるBill wall leatherのBillに、King of Sturgisに選ばれたよ！と報告したら、「え？まじで？外国人なのに？！」と驚いていました。驚き方が笑える！ 調べていないので本当のところは分かりませんが、もしかしたらアメリカ人以外で初めての快挙だったかもしれません。アジア人では、たぶん初めてだと思います。

Anyway, thank you, thank you everyone, thank you Sturgis, thank you,　Buffalo chip, thank you, thank you、Thank you very much.　

In 2019, he found our SPEED STER and invited us to shoot with him. Koh puts his own philosophy and soul into build it. They were highly specialized and sometimes went too far ahead of the curve in terms of technology, so it was difficult for people to sympathize with them. The reason Koh took the bike he build and traveled around the world was partly to find his place. Koh believed that somewhere in the world there was someone who would understand what he was creating. In Japan, it was difficult to do so. Koh was always lonely in Japan. The people at Shooters Images took pictures of the SPEED STER at the angles that Koh wanted to show and the perfect angles. When Koh saw the photo, he was very moved and took great inspiration from the photo to complete the TRIBUTE HARMAN.

2019年に私達のスピードスターを見つけてくれて撮影に誘ってくれた人たちがいる。Kohは、他のバイクビルダーの人々と同じように、一台のカスタムバイクを完成させる為にKohなりの哲学と魂と技術を込めて制作する。しかし、それらは専門性が高く、技術面でも先を行き過ぎている部分があり（Koh本人はそんなふうに思ってはいないけれど、日本のエディターやライターからは、そう評価され続けてきた）、なかなか日本国内で共感されることは今の現在も難しい。一時期は、もっと創りたいけれど創り込みすぎると、どんどん理解されないんじゃないかと悩み、自分の持つ知識や技術よりも少しレベルを下げて分かりやすく部品を制作するような孤独に至ったこともあります。Kohが自分で制作したバイクを持ち込み、世界を周るのは、自分の居場所を探す旅でもあり、世界のどこかに、きっと自分の制作するものを理解してくれる人々がいると信じて自分の仕事を続けました。限られた人生の中で自分にどれだけのものが創りだせるんだろうか。Kohは真剣に仕事に打ち込み、それを諦めませんでした。シューターズ イメージズの人たちは、Kohが見せたいアングルや、スピードスターの見所である箇所を完璧に理解して撮影をしてくれました。その写真を見てKohは大変感動し、その写真の中からインスピレーションを多大に受け、トリビュートハーマンを完成させました。








Everyone here knows I'm a pine cone collector. One of my friend, who was gone during the shoot, picked up a bag full of pine cones. Hey,Izumi, this is all you need, so you gave me a present:) Everyone here was happy and grateful.

私が松ぼっくり収集家ということは、ここの皆んなは知っていて、撮影している間、あれ？どこに行ったんだろう？と思っていた友人のひとりがスーパーの袋いっぱいに松ぼっくりを拾い集めてきてくれて、「ねえ、こんだけあったら足りる？」 と私にプレゼントしてくれた。この炎天下の中、あなたずっと松ぼっくり拾ってたのーーー！？と皆んなが大笑いして、ここにいる皆んなが幸せに感謝した。








I'm really happy and honored to have them take pictures of the TRIBUTE HARMAN. this is a special place for us. There were sad things that happened over the 4 years that made it impossible for me to come here. I thought of him all the time as I strolled around the studio. I miss you. I dedicate this time to my friend in heaven.

こうしてまた、Kohが新たに制作したトリビュートハーマンを彼らに見てもらえたこと、撮影してもらえたことが本当に嬉しくて、光栄に思います。ここに来ることが叶わなかった4年間の間に、悲しい出来事もありました。スタジオの周りを散歩しながら彼のことをずっと考えて過ごしました。するとマイクが撮影から戻ってきて私に、いつものビールとチーズを持ってきてくれて、「ここは何にも変わってないよね」 と私が言うと、「そうだよ、何にも変わってない。ここはあの頃からずっと美しいままだよ」 と言いました。天国にいる友人に、この時間を捧げます。

Today we're at SASHA'S CYCLES. A few day ago, thank you for being kind to me when I got lost. It was wonderful shop at that time. so I wanted to visit it slowly. I immediately hit it off with Sasha's, the shop owner. Sasha told Koh that she would show you something wonderful. Then Koh said, "No, I'll show you something wonderful, so follow me." He went to where the van was and opened the door. When Sasha saw the 2 bikes, he was genuinely surprised, excited, and moved. Then, I told Koh that I would like to cut up the belt used by Tom Fugle, my best friend, into pieces for each of my close friends, and present Koh with the scraps of the belt that I treasured as keepsakes. I was. Koh would never receive such an important gift, and although I obviously know about Tom, I was surprised why he would give it to me since we have never met or spoken to him. Sasha said it was because it was you and gave it to Koh.

今日はサーシャに来ています。数日前、道に迷った時に親切にしてもらったお礼と、そのときに素敵なお店だったから一度ゆっくり訪れたかった。店主であるサーシャとはすぐに気が合って、サーシャが、「おまえに素晴らしいものを見せてやるよ！」 とKohに言ってくれた時、「いいや、俺の方がおまえに素晴らしいものを見せてやるから着いて来いよ！」 とバンが置いてある場所まで行って扉を開けた。二台のバイクを見たサーシャは心の底から驚いて興奮して、そして感動してくれた。そして、Kohに自分の親友だったトム フィゲル氏の愛用していたベルトを、仲の良かった仲間の数に切り分けて形見として大切にしていたベルトの端切れをKohにプレゼントしたい、と申し出てくれた。「いやいや、そんな大切なもの貰えないし、俺は当然トムのことは知っているけれど（彼は日本でもファンが多く、横浜のムーンのショウにも招待されていたと思う）、会ったこともなければ喋ったこともないよ。なのに、どうして俺にくれようとするの？」 と驚いていると、「おまえだからだ」 と言ってKohにそれを渡した。天国のトム フィゲル氏が怒らないといいけど。コイツに渡してくれて嬉しいよ！とトムに思ってもらえる人生にしなくちゃいけない。こりゃ責任重大だ。鳥肌が立って震えてしまった、とKohが後から言っていた。








Koh later said that he had to live a life that Tom in heaven would be happy to have handed over to him. When he thought about this, he got goosebumps and trembled, he said later.

















His shop is a truly welcoming place and provides an equal and safe place for all bikers visiting Sturgis. Everything here has history and meaning, and everyone who visits here will be moved by it.

彼のショップは本当に居心地の良い場所で、スタージスに訪れる全てのバイカー達に、平等で安全な場所を提供している。ここに置いてあるものには全てに歴史と意味があって、ここを訪れるみんなが感動的に過ごします。




Sasha will have a chopper show and BBQ here tomorrow, so Koh invited me to come too.

サーシャが、明日ここでチョッパーショウとバーベキューをやるからKohにもぜひ参加してほしい、と招待してくれました。



















The next day we attended an amazing chopper show hosted by Sasha cycles.　A lot of my friends also participated and it was like a motorcycle heaven. I realized that in the end, people who are similar to each other, both in different ways and in different ways, come together. Kind people will always gather around kind people. Liars and ostentatious people gather around people who are liars and ostentatious people. Both worlds have a certain number of people, and each of them lives in it. I want to continue to be able to come here and have fun surrounded by these people and motorcycles without forgetting respect and gratitude.

翌日、私達はサーシャ主催の素晴らしいチョッパーショウに参加しました。友人も沢山参加して、そこはまるでオートバイの天国のようで、自由で、優しくて、美しい時間が流れました。私はここに来て強く感じることがありました。人って結局のところ、良い意味でも、違う意味でも、似た者同士が集まるんだな、と。優しい人の側には必ず優しい人がいるし、嘘つきで見栄っ張りの側には嘘つきで見栄っ張りが集まる。どちらの世界にも一定数の人がいて、似た価値観を持つ者同士が集まって、その中でそれぞれが暮らす。私は優しいかどうかは自分では分からないけれど、嘘つきじゃないし見栄っ張りでもない。だから私はここに居るんだなあ、と嬉しかったし、これからもここに来て、この人たちと超カッコイイオートバイに囲まれて、尊敬と感謝を忘れずに楽しく過ごせる自分でありたいと思いました。

トリビュートハーマンがHOT RODだとアメリカに認められた瞬間。







We promised to meet our loved ones again, and in the evening, we headed to a photography studio deep in the mountains for a photo shoot that we had been asked to do.

大・大・大好きな人たちに、また逢う約束をして、私達は夕方から依頼を受けていた写真撮影の為に、山奥にある撮影スタジオへ向かいました。

On this day, it is no exaggeration to say that Koh has prepared with all his heart and soul. In 2019, for the first time, we brought a custom bike that Koh also build to the USA, where Harley-Davidson was born. It was our first Sturgis ener. Although the result was a class winner, it did not become an overall winner. We are not concerned with winning or losing. Even so, Koh had a strong desire to have the custom bike he built recognized in America, where Harley-Davidson was born.

4 years have passed since then, and to borrow a friend's words, we're here to try again, this time with our SPEED STER brother. The brothers won their respective classes and also won the overall championship.

この日は、Kohが全身全霊で準備してきたと言っても過言ではないラッツホールに参加します。2019年、初めて自分の制作したバイクを北欧でもなく、ドイツでもなく、イタリアでもなく、ハーレーダビッドソンの生まれた本国アメリカに持ち込み、勝負をしに来ました。そして、結果はクラスでの優勝は果たしたものの、総合優勝とはなりませんでした。それでも、反響は大きく、インディアンモーターサイクルとジャックダニエルから2020年の招待を受けました。それがあって私達はスピードスターをカリフォルニアの倉庫に2020年の8月まで保管することに決めました。その後は皆さんもご承知の通り、スピードスターを迎えに行くことは叶いませんでしたし、招待も白紙になりました。

それから4年の歳月を経て、私達は友人の言葉を借りるならば、「今度はスピードスターの兄ちゃんを連れて」 再挑戦をしに来たのです。そして、それぞれのクラスでそれぞれが優勝し、念願だった総合優勝を果たしました。








It may be misleading to say this, but what was not evaluated in Japan received the highest evaluation in the United States. Winning isn't our goal, but being recognized for what we've been doing with our convictions will give Koh his confidence, and it will also help him in the future. Some might say it's silly to rank the custom bikes that each of them build freely. However, I believe that it's never useless or vulgar to become obsessed with something and compete with othera who have the same aspirations. On the contrary, I find it very beautiful.




こんなことを言うと語弊があるかもしれませんが、日本では評価されなかったものがアメリカで最高の評価を受けました。勝つことが目的ではないけれど、やはり信念を持ってやってきたことが評価されることは、Koh自身の自信にも繋がりますし、これからの彼の力にもなります。このように、それぞれが自由に創ったカスタムバイクに順位をつけるなんて馬鹿げている、という意見もあるのかもしれませんが、果たして本当にそうでしょうか。子ども達の運動会のかけっこに順位をつけるのを止めたら幸せな子どもが増えたのかな。どっかの議員が、「2位じゃダメなんですか～？」 と発言していましたが、それって本当？場面によってはそのような平等や平和も存在することは理解できるけれど、何かにがむしゃらになって、それを同じ志を持った者同士で競い合うことは決して無駄ではないし、下品なことじゃない。むしろ美しいと感じます。

愛して止まないハーレーダビッドソンを生んだアメリカの、この数日間を私達は一生涯、忘れることはないでしょう。何度も繰り返しますが、とんでもない知識と、技術と、経験と、歴史を持った人々からの質問は、実に専門性に優れていてKohを大変興奮させてくれました。




I would like to reflect on this day...

この日のことを少し、振り返ろうと思います。












On the day of the event, Koh woke up early in the morning, entered the venue, managed to get TRIBUTE HARMAN & SPEED STER in good condition, and was about to ride into the venue.

この日、Kohは早朝から会場入りし、ライドインする為に2台の整備を、ここで出来る限りのことをしました。




集中しているのに私が写真を撮るから不機嫌になる（笑）

And when he successfully revived the engine and ride into the venue, a lot of people gathered around Koh.

そして、見事にエンジンを蘇らせて会場に走って入場すると自然に沢山の人だかりが出来ました。

This is a custom bike build by the people who won the overall championship in 2019.　So far it has been wonderfully and perfectly finished, but in the Bobber class it was 3rd place. Looking at this, you can see the high level of skill of the participants.

これは2019年に総合優勝した人たちが制作したカスタムバイク。ここまで素晴らしく完璧に仕上げられていましたが、ボバークラスでは3位でした。これを見ても参加している人たちのスキルの高さが伺えます。










We will never forget those few days in America that gave birth to our beloved Harley-Davidson. I would like to repeat this over and over again, but the questiones from people with incredible knowledge, skills, experience, and history, were extremely specialized, and Koh was very excited. Thank you for being happy with what Koh has done with all his heart and soul. And thank you to everyone who contributed. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you everyone!!!!!




My best friend Onno, who is a photographer representing Europe, also came from Holland to congratulate me. And took a lot of great pictures. It was a happy reunion that will remain in my heart.
